The story is based on the bookWhen You Were Mineby Rebecca Serle, and is replete with a modern day soundtrack (Robyn, Roxette, Enrique Iglesias etc.) and a post-Bridesmaidssense of humour.

Rosaline is our jilted main gal – she's quick of wit, she's confident, and she's relatable. When we first meet her, Rosaline's pretty apathetic about her life, and the only thing she cares about is Romeo. However, over the course of the movie she has a big change of heart.

Dashing, rugged, and British, Dario comes on the scene to charm and marry Rosaline. She isn't taken with him at first (is she mad?), but she soon changes her mind once they get to know each other a bit more, and once he whips his sword out .

Janet is Rosaline's sort of Lady-in-Waiting who – in her own words – is a "registered nurse". She acts as a mentor to Rosaline, and is basically the Nurse part in the 1597 play, which is a great part made even better because it's Minnie Driver!
