Kate Hudson Talked About Co-Parenting With Three Different Dads And What Juggling It All During The Pandemic Has Been Like

"I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place."

Co-parenting can be one of life's greatest challenges, andKate Hudsonis doing it with three different dads. The actor recently opened up about what that's like for her amid the pandemic, as well as the constant balancing act of work andparenting, and it's definitely not easy.

"You know, I've got multiple dads, I've got kids all over the place," Kate said toSunday Todayabout her 2-year-old, Rani Rose, whom she shares with her partner, Danny Fujikawa; 9-year-old Bingham, whom she had with her ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy; and 17-year-old Ryder, whose father is her ex-husband, Chris Robinson.

For Kate, getting parenting and co-parenting right is her biggest priority. “The only expectations I really have that are really high in my life is with my kids," she said. "And with, like, family stuff. Other than that, it's like, I just let it go. I work my ass off and then I walk away and I hope for the best.”

Co-parenting is so important to Kate, in part because she "didn't know" her own dad, musician Bill Hudson. (She was raised by her mom, Goldie Hawn, and her mom's longtime partner Kurt Russell.) "I think that estrangement is unfortunately quite common. I think it's important for people to talk about that. ... If they can't reconnect or if it's too challenging, that it's OK, right?” she said.

“I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life,” she said. “But it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad.”

Kate continued, “I think as I've sort of gone through that process ... I kind of look at my dad and I'm like, ‘You know, the love has never, ever gone anywhere. It's always been there, no matter what those complications have been.’”

她说:“我想像,'是的,这太好了,我们正在弄清楚',但现实是有些日子很棒,有些日子我必须提醒自己要感激。”

These days, Kate is working on balancing it all — and sometimes, yes, that includes ducking out to the bathroom just for some alone time.

凯特解释说:“我从来没有想过要在一个地方度过一年的时间。”“当你有这么多孩子时,有时您会有那些藏在浴室里的时刻,'请,请,让我离开这里!''

But then she puts everything into perspective: "I just remind myself there's a lot of people out there who have lost their loved ones, and we just gotta stay in for a bit."

By taking Kate's advice and staying home — and wearing a mask and socially distancing when we do go out — we can all save lives.
