Here's Our Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2022 Maze Ranking

And here's what we thought about all the mazes this year...

Crystal:It's always fun to see what original mazes they come up with for HHN, and I appreciate one with a story. I LOVED seeing the skeleton come out of the tub — gave me veryThe Shiningvibes — but, overall, this maze was not that scary. 达伦：This was not very scary, though it was long, so you get your money's worth in length, I guess. It’s an original story, though. I kept creeping around a corner waiting for the next scare that rarely came. Scariness: 2/5, Creativity: 2/5

However, it's a fun, campy maze, and I'm STILL impressed by the scare actor playing the police officer-turned-human puppet. It's a great effect. Scariness: 2/5, Creativity 3/5

达伦：Some fun jump scares. I love the cop who is acting like a puppet. Even though it is not scary at all, I think it is a fun touch. There are definitely some creeps in here, basically by the terrible design of these asshole clowns. Scariness: 2.5, Creativity 3/5

Crystal:Back in 2018, they did a catch-all Universal Monsters maze at HHN and it was AMAZING. It was so good, in fact, we ranked it a total of10/10. I still think about it to this day, tbh. Ever since then, every Universal Monsters–related maze automatically gets compared to that for me. While I enjoyed the story of this one — a clash of horror titans, Dracula vs. The Mummy — it didn't quite do it for me this year. There weren't as many scares as I'd hoped for (I think we got unlucky timing-wise), but shoutout to Slash for creating an energetic original score for the maze. Scariness: 3/5, Creativity 3/5

达伦：I always appreciate these throwback mazes with some version of the original Universal Monsters, though they have done better with these in the past. This one was fun but just OK in the scare factor. Scariness: 2/5, Creativity: 3/5

Crystal:So, apparently scarecrows aren't just great at running crows out of cornfields, but also great at making you want to run out of horror mazes too! In my case, it was because the SMELL inside this maze was awful (on purpose). Imagine burning flesh mixed with manure and that's pretty much what your senses are in for while you dodge creepy scarecrows and other generally gross-looking things. Scariness: 3.5/5, Creativity 3.5/5

Crystal:所以，我看过电影Freaky, and for the life of me I don't remember the Blissfield Butcher'smask, let alone it being SO SCARY? This maze felt really claustrophobic, so having that awful face jump out at you was, let's just say, less than pleasant. But you know what's even MORE unpleasant? Coming face to face with The Grabber from黑电话. We were lucky (or unlucky) enough to not have people right in front of us going into this half of the maze, so I was on high alert when we entered The Grabber's house. My only complaint for this one would be that I wishThe黑电话half of the maze had been longer. Scariness: 4/5, Creativity: 3.5/5

达伦：This was front-loaded with lots ofFreaky,做得很好，但不太可怕。尽管我确实从一个男人的嘴里喷洒了液体，但这总是很有趣吗？哈哈。但是当它过渡到t他黑电话，I was immediately shocked by one of the Grabbers inches from my face and was literally crouched on the ground like a little baby. Screaming and giggling. LOL! I could have used more黑电话，and I really wanted to see a shirtless Ethan Hawke double sitting in the kitchen with his belt off, but it must’ve been his lunch break. The production design all around on this maze was very good. Scariness 2/5, Creativity: 3/5

Crystal:As a semi-connoisseur of The Weeknd's music videos, I was PRETTY excited about this maze. First of all, the queue was great, and I literally never say this about queues because I HATE waiting in lines — but, what can I say, it had great music. Anyway, as for the maze itself, from the get-go, I loved the visuals. It had the perfect blend of fun and madness. Was the maze scary? I'd say they got me good like twice (shoutout to the headless mannequin that turned out to be not a mannequin at all), but overall, this wasn't super scary. I will say I did find myself dancing in a few of the rooms, and who's to say what's scarier: my dancing or people jumping out at you in bloody skull masks? Scariness: 2/5, Creativity: 5/5

Crystal:Anytime there's aHalloween-诗歌迷宫，这让我开心。我只经历过Halloween IV过去迷宫（两次！），所以我很高兴根据OG检查迷宫。这个迷宫非常忠实地重新创建了电影中的标志性场景，这比经验丰富的更有趣。但是，看，只要有一个6'7英寸的伙计，带有厨师的刀子就会以刺伤的动作来到您身边，这很可怕 - 这发生了很多。而且，还有一个非常有创造力和有趣的地方在壁橱里，最终的惊喜使我大喊：“我不喜欢这个！！！”恐怖：4/5，创造力5/5

达伦：As a huge fan of this movie, I was entering with a discerning eye, and this production design was so great and accurate! Everything happened as expected, as it did in the film, which made it super fun to relive in person. And I got zinged by a lot of Michael Myers along the way; it was delightfully fun to shit myself! The best was having to paw through the closet with Michael stabbing away just like in the film. A very creative way of getting us right into the scene. Not the scariest maze, but I did jump a lot nonetheless. It was more fun than anything. Top notch. Scariness: 3.5/5, Creativity 5/5

达伦：Wow, this one was yucky and scary! There’s this fucking skinned horse/man waving its bloody hoofs in your face. Insane! The effects and creature builds were super impressive! A HUGE La Llorona swallowing a live actor was great! Wow, what a fun trip! Scariness: 4.5/5, Creativity 5/5

Crystal:It was fun to wander through this area with the Death Eaters roaming around. They definitely create more of a ~spooky~ vibe than normal, and it's a decent replacement (albeit a less scary one) for things like the Toxic Tunnel they've done in past years. BTW, the rides in this area are open during HHN and were totally walk-on, so be sure to take advantage of that!

达伦：在活动期间让Hogsmeade打开真是太酷了，但是食死徒没什么可写的。亮点是能够连续五次上河马的飞行！哈。
